Thank you to all the volunteers who have volunteered in our thrift store and food pantry recently. With lots of donations coming in, it's been so important to get them sorted, processed and shelved. We are blessed to have such wonderful volunteers! Some of our volunteers are pictured below.

GraceWorks Ministries is blessed by our many faithful volunteers who make it possible for us to accomplish our mission of sharing the hope and grace of God by helping our neighbors in need.
We have volunteers of all ages and skills levels, on a regular basis, but we've seen an increase lately in the number of young people volunteering. Many area schools are now include volunteering as part of the learning process for students, and some of our local families who home-school volunteer as a fami

We are always amazed at the resourcefulness of our volunteers. Check out the two photos below to see how volunteer Mark Cawley squeezed 100 Fuel Bags into his Mini for delivery at one of our local schools.
In an effort to address the problem of food insecurity with many of our area children, GraceWorks has adapted a Second Harvest Food Bank program into the Fuel Bag Program. Fuel Bags are small bags filled with nutritious and easily prepared food items. Each Friday teachers discreetly

Bank of America supports four local non-profits. GraceWorks was the gathering place for a check presentation Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Bank of America awarded grants to Hard Bargain/Mt. Hope Redevelopment, Mercy Children's Clinic, CASA and GraceWorks. Volunteers spent time in GraceWorks' Food Pantry and Thrift Store, helping sort and stock food and clothing.

GraceWorks partners with over 55 area churches that provide support and volunteers to help us achieve our mission of sharing the hope and grace of God by helping our neighbors in need. One way that we help is by providing food for struggling families. Our ability to provide that food has been challenged recently as the food pantry stock had gotten very low.
Not any more. Each year Brentwood Baptist Church holds a food drive to benefit GraceWorks. Just think how excited we were as we unloaded

Boy Scout Zack Sexton saw a need at GraceWorks, and took the opportunity to address that need in his Eagle Scout project. With the volume of food donations that are sorted here at GraceWorks, the pantry needed a sorting table that was more flexible for different sized drives or donation items. After volunteering in the pantry to understand the process, Zack designed a table that is long enough to accommodate the sort boxes, and with overhead signage that can be changed out as needed.

One of the best things about working at GraceWorks is seeing God work in such amazing ways. We have seen some unusual situations the past week or so, where God's hand has been so visible in the interactions, in who was here, and in what was said. Praise the Lord!
Last week, a client came in who has 5 children and lost her husband about 10 years ago. She met with two of our volunteer GraceWorkers, one of whom is relatively new to the process and was training with a seasoned GraceWorker.

Last week, we had a 19-year-old girl come in to GraceWorks requesting food assistance. She is overdue with her first child, and neither she nor the father is currently working. She lives with her aunt, who brought her in to GraceWorks.
