Do I need an appointment to get help?

How often can I receive assistance?

In general, food is distributed on a monthly basis, utility bills every six month and rent once per year. Other programs are based on need and available funding.

How long before I know I'll be approved for assistance?

If all required forms are present when applying for assistance, approval can be given after an interview. Click here for more information.

Money Donations

How much of my donation goes toward helping someone who needs help?

90% of contributions support programming at GraceWorks. For more information on how donations are used, visit GivingMatters.com.

Are my cash donations tax-deductible?

Yes. A tax-deductible receipt will be mailed to you in January for donations made the previous year.

Other Donations

Are there restrictions on what I can donate?

Though we happily accept most things at GraceWorks, find those items we are unable to here.

Will you pick up donations from my home?

We do pick up gently used furniture and appliances in excellent condition. Click here to find out how to set up an appointment. Due to space and time limitations, we are unable to pick up clothing or housewares.

Are my item donations tax-deductible?

Yes. Everything donated to GraceWorks is tax-deductible.

Thrift Store

How much of my store purchase goes to help those in need?

90% of all contributions support programming at GraceWorks. Thrift Store revenue provides roughly 40% of the income GraceWorks receives each year.

Where do I find Thrift Store sales?

GraceWorks has different sales every week. Be notified of our sales here, our weekly store eblast or by text message. In addition, we have ongoing specials for various groups. Visit the Thrift Store page for details. 

What if I want to know whether or not the Thrift Store has a certain item?

Customers are welcome to call either GraceWorks Thrift Store and ask if a particular item is available. In Franklin, the Furniture Store is (615) 794-9055 ext 160. For GraceWorks West, call (615) 799-0006.

If I buy furniture, must I take it home immediately?

We request customers pick up their items within 48 hours of purchase. If you need a mover to pick up your item(s), we can recommend delivery options to you.

Food Pantry

What are the most needed non-perishables?

The GraceWorks Food Pantry generally needs canned ham or chicken, spaghetti sauce (in tin or plastic jars), canned beef stew, jelly & boxed meals (such as Hamburger Helper). We often post special needs on our Facebook page and our News & Updates area.

What is the Fuel Bag program?

Fuel Bags are bags filled with nutritious and easily prepared food items for students in the free/reduced lunch program. Each Friday teachers discreetly pack the Fuel Bags in the children’s backpacks before they leave for the weekend, helping to supplement their food at home.

How do I sponsor a food drive?

GraceWorks will provide collection bins and send someone out to collect donations at the end of the drive. Contact us for more information.

Volunteering

How can I volunteer at GraceWorks?

Thank you for considering volunteering at GraceWorks. We depend on more than 200 volunteers each week to accomplish our mission with our neighbors in need. Please visit our Volunteer page to see the many ways you can volunteer and the process to get involved.

When can I volunteer?

You can volunteer at either GraceWorks in Franklin or GraceWorks West in Fairview. We have two shifts in Franklin, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. For GraceWorks West in Fairview, volunteers are needed 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday. We also need volunteers for various events throughout the year.

Can I bring a group to volunteer?

Yes! We recommend that you schedule the group’s visit with Erin by calling (615) 794-9055, ext 121 or by email.

What are some of the jobs that volunteers do?

Volunteers do a variety of jobs at GraceWorks such as: tagging and sorting clothes, pricing and organizing home goods, and many other jobs. Please visit our Volunteer page to see the many ways you can volunteer.

What should I bring to my volunteer shift?

Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. GraceWorks provides bottled water to all volunteers.
