Over 31,000 lbs of School Supplies Donated

The Big Backpack Giveaway distributes over 2,000 backpacks full of school supplies to students in need in Williamson County each year. Seeing the faces of children as they receive a backpack is a rewarding end to a campaign which begins the previous year.

Work is already underway for the 2016 campaign which started with Publix Super Markets and their Tools for School program in partnership with the United Way of Williamson County. When checking out from July 23 through August 12, customers were able to donate a few dollars to this cause. All money donated at a Williamson County Publix during the campaign was used to purchase supplies our county’s children.

Today, over 31,000 lbs of school supplies arrived at GraceWorks on 23 pallets. It’s a mountain of boxes full of #2 pencils, crayons, scissors and paper. We thank Publix and their customers along with the United Way of Williamson County for giving us a tremendous start for the 2016 backpack program. We also thank our neighbor, Grassland Distribution, for allowing us to store the supplies in their warehouse.
