May 2 will mark the fifth year of The Big Payback – a 24-hour online giving event hosted by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The goal is simple – inspiring Middle Tennesseans to come together, show their pride in their community, and contribute to the life-changing work of local nonprofit organizations.
GraceWorks Ministries will once again participate in the Big Payback this year and earmark money raised to purchase backpacks/school supplies to be given to students in need. Each backpack is filled with school supplies and distributed to children across Williamson County just before the start of the school year.
Parents of 12% of students in Williamson County struggle to pay for school supplies. While that percentage is much lower than the 60% national average, these families have to make hard choices. Receiving a backpack full of supplies allows parents to use their limited income to pay bills or purchase food they otherwise couldn’t afford.
The goal is to ensure all students have the tools they need to have the best start possible for the upcoming school year. Last year, GraceWorks distributed 2,400 backpacks full of school supplies valued at over $100 each.
A new feature this year is that supporters can create their own campaigns for GraceWorks and ask for donations from friends, family and co-workers. All money raised will go to GraceWorks as part of the final total. To start a campaign, click the button below.
This year’s Big Payback event begins at 12:00 a.m. and ends at midnight May 2. For 24 hours, people can give to GraceWorks through the donation button below.
