For those who follow GraceWorks on Facebook, you’ve seen Publix mentioned quite often. Reason being, they are a tremendous supporter.
Earlier this month, the Publix Super Market on Riverside Drive selected the GraceWorks Food Pantry as the recipient of their Food for Sharing program. If you’ve shopped there and heard the sound of a ringing cowbell, it meant another donation had been given by a customer.
Today, employees from many area Publix stores volunteered at GraceWorks. They rearranged the furniture room in the Thrift Store, painted shelving, sorted clothing donations, stored boxes in the warehouse and beautified spaces outside our building with live flower arrangements. They fed all of the GraceWorks staff for lunch and donated gift cards to be used for neighbors in need.
As you can see in the photo, many of the volunteers wore green t-shirts today with “Publix Serves”. Helping others isn’t just something they occasionally do. Publix was founded on a philosophy of service. Being involved in the community is in their mission statement. Type the hashtag #PublixServes into Facebook, Twitter or Google and you’ll find example after example of their generosity and impact.
The photo you see here is at the end of a long day. Every bit of the paint and dirt you see on everyone is the result of their hard work. We hope the smiles are because everyone left knowing they helped make GraceWorks a better place. We thank them for all they do for GraceWorks to help serve neighbors in need in Williamson County.
